Motorola T505 Bluetooth Portable In-Car Speakerphone

I recently bought a 2008 Cadillac CTS. It is the best car I have driven to date, but the biggest problem it has is that all vehicles manufactured prior to April 2008 have no bluetooth. This is the first car I have owned without bluetooth installed since the technology first became available. Since I run a business and constantly use the phone in my car, I scrambled to find the perfect device.

Right now the two most popular BT devices are the Blueant Supertooth Light and the Motorola T505. It was a tough choice which way to go but I chose the Motorola because it had FM transmitting capability.

The one thing that is misleading about the pictures depicted of this device on Amazon is its size. I was amazed to see just how small the T505 is. It comes with a very strong clip that secures itself on the visor, and it easily slides on and off whenever you need to remove the T505 for charging purposes.

The included car charger is worthless for most because who wants that cord dangling from the visor? What is visibly absent here is a wall charger. I can't really get upset about this as it does have a USB socket that allows you to plug your device in your computer's USB port for charging.

Pairing was easy. Hold the Power button down for a few seconds (you may have to press PLAY as well) and the T505 goes into pairing mode. My iPhone immediately recognized the device and once you type in 0000 you are instantly paired. No need to pair the phone each time you enter the vehicle.

For best results make sure the bluetooth volume is all the way up on your phone. This will provide the loudest results from the built-in T505 speakerphone.

My first call came today while I was driving. A british voice announced the incoming phone number. I simply pressed the front PLAY button and the call was connected. Speakerphone was crisp and loud. It was pretty incredible as far as the overall voice quality. People sitting in the back seat would have no problem hearing or joining in the conversation. The caller said I sounded great on his end and would never have guessed that I was talking on a speakerphone.

Press the FM locator button on the back of the unit and a British voice will announce a vacant FM channel that is available for you to tune and have your call directed to. Directing the call to FM produced a rather good quality call though slightly fuzzy.

I would not hesitate to recommend this device to anyone looking for the most ideal bluetooth solution for their vehicle. For portable hands-free bluetooth, this is about as good as it gets.

Samsung Behold T919 Unlocked Quadband Phone with 3G Support, GPS and 5MP Camera - US Warranty - Brushed Espresso

The Samsung Behold is not a smartphone, just to get that out the way early. It is an exceptional device but smart device it is not. So anyhow, I purchased this phone to replace a recent purchase of a Sidekick LX that as we all know has ceased the use of data. I have a primary phone, the Blackberry 9700, however I like having two lines because when the Blackberry inevitably dies before I get home at the end of each day I will still have a fully charged phone waiting. I will break my analysis of the phone down into sections.

Packaging

I opted for the overnight shipping, which was only $3.99 on Amazon Prime Student Edition. This phone arrived super fast and the packaging was amazing. When I opened the package I found that the phone was in the original Samsung packaging. When I opened the packaging I found the phone in immaculate shape. The plastic cover was still on the screen, the battery was enclosed in a plastic packaging, and everything looked as if it was brand new. No scratches non-whatsoever. Overall, very professional packaging, which is always much appreciated.

Phone Touch Screen

The screen on this phone is amazingly bright and vibrant. To make a selection on the screen you have to press firmly, which I like but if you are looking for a touch screen that is as fluid as the G1 then you will be disappointed. I have medium fingers and when I first started playing this phone I was annoyed and was kind of glad that it is a secondary phone because otherwise the texting would drive me insane. What I have found is that this is a very sexist phone. If you are a woman and have medium fingernails then this is your biggest ally when typing on the screen. If you are a guy, who typically have short fingernails, I recommend a stylus. Once I started using my fingernails to text and not my fingers I found the process to be quick and efficient with no mistaken letter pushes.

Phone Front Screen

The main screen allows you to modify the icons and move them to the home screen. This is a decent feature that I have found useful. I do wish that we had the opportunity to download other widgets that are more tailored to what you use but the default one's are the only options.

Phone Call Quality

The quality of the phone calls are very clear and crisp. No choppy voices or static.

Bluetooth

I was able to connect my Bluetooth to this device in two minutes flat. The Bluetooth call quality was clear and crisp, no issues there.

Browser

Now comes the downside to this phone. This browser is a very crude type of browser. With a phone that has so many features you would think that there would be a great browser, or at least efficient. The speed of the browser is decent if you are in 3G. I have not had any issues looking at video's on YouTube or going on Facebook's mobile site however you will not be getting onto any non-mobile sites very easy. That being said, there is a rumor that Opera Mini is a great browser to download however I cannot confirm nor deny this rumor because I was unable to find an Opera Mini browser that was compatible with the Behold.

Apps

I cannot find any apps to download, period. They do not have a Facebook or Twitter app to download so that's something to consider if that's important to you. I have these apps on my Blackberry 9700 so it's not that big of a deal, although it would be nice to have these apps on both devices. I do not use games on my cell phone devices so I cannot attest to how they handle or where to actually download them from, for that matter.

Email

There is an email wizard to set up email accounts from AOL to Yahoo! to Comcast and Verizon. There is a nice list of carriers, but as this is not a smartphone, school and work email is not supported on this device. I have not set up any email accounts because my emails are all going through the Blackberry.

Wireless Extenders zBoost YX545 SOHO Dual-Band Cell Phone Signal Booster for Home and Office (White, North America and Canada)

Satisfy all your cellular phone needs with the Wireless Extenders YX545 zBoost zP Wireless Booster, which works with both cellular frequencies (800 and 1900 MHz) and can extend cellular coverage up to 3000 square feet. This unit can handle signals from all the major cellular carriers.* The package includes everything you need: amplifier base Mini-RG59 cable, signal antenna and mounting hardware. The omni-directional signal antenna receives signals from multiple cell towers.

*The use of radio distribution equipment that enhances, extends or amplifies a wireless signal may be prohibited without the consent of the wireless carrier upon whose network such equipment will be used. You should consult with your carrier before purchasing such equipment to use with that carrier’s service.

Using a revolutionary, patent pending technology that protects the carrier network, the YX545 improves indoor cell phone coverage by capturing and repeating the outside signal, bringing it into the building and enhancing it. This process creates a "Cell Zone" in your home or office.

The Wireless Extenders zBoost system includes:
  • Outdoor antenna (repeats the signal) can be installed outdoors above the roofline or indoors in the attic or near a window
  • Coax cable (Mini-RG59) connects from the outdoor antenna to the base unit
  • Base unit: Sleekly designed, it amplifies the signal and provides oscillation detection/correction which protects the carrier network using patent-pending technology.
  • Indoor antenna connects to the base unit to repeat the signal and create "Cell Zone"--no physical connection to the phone is needed.
Installation Choosing the best location for installation of the Signal Antenna provides the best performance and the largest area of improved signal. Determine the location that provides the strongest signal using the signal strength indicator on your cell phone. Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II Unlocked GSM Smartphone with 8 MP Camera, Android OS, 16 GB Internal Memory, Touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and GPS--No Warranty (Noble Black)

This phone is awesome. As far as appearance goes, it's *thin.* Like, 8.49 mm thin. Much thinner than the iPhone 3G that I owned previously. Although it's thin, the curved sides allow for easy gripping. The casing itself is plastic, so it feels cheaper than other all-aluminum phones, but its absolute thinness prevents if from feeling cheap. It's a classy phone.

The screen is massive (4.3") and beautiful. It's probably the best single feature of the Galaxy S II. You can view the display from all kinds of angles (good for sharing pictures of cats) and the colors really pop. This is all due to Samsung's patented Super AMOLED Plus technology. It's the secret juice that makes the Galaxy S II's screen really stand out when compared to other phones. One semi-downside of the display is that it's resolution is 800x480 and NOT qHD. This means when watching HD movies you have to deal with annoying black bars around the film to maintain the viewing format.

The awesomeness of the screen, though, really can't be overstated. It's vibrant. Pictures and video are vivid and really pop off the screen, even in direct sunlight. The viewing angles and contrast are great. Really, a superb screen. Blows my old iPhone 3G's screen out of the water. It's a beauty to behold. Web pages render stunningly.

Samsung's S-AMOLED Plus technology also helps with battery life by selectively powering down black pixels to maintain battery life. This means that even though the phone has an impressive two cores clocked at 1.2GHz each and that beautiful 4.3" display, battery life is still impressive. I manage to go two days between charges and that's with fairly frequent usage. I do notice that taking a lot of pictures seems to drain the battery life, though, so you'll want to keep that in mind if you have cats. You should be able to get at least two days of battery life, I'd say. The Galaxy S II is certainly no slouch when it comes to the battery life department.

When it comes to internet, this phone supports 21.1Mbps HSPA+ speeds, so downloads are blazingly fast. This is another area where it blows my old iPhone 3G out of the water. Downloading apps feels almost instantaneous and web pages load very quickly. You might want to check if your area is covered by 4G, as coverage isn't that extensive.

Camera quality is pretty decent at 8 megapixels. Of course, any professional photographer will want to carry around a dedicated camera, but the Galaxy S II more than suffices at Facebook pictures. One complaint I do have about the camera is that the flash tends to be a little strong and people end up looking like ghosts. Maybe Samsung will do something about this in a software update, I don't know if that's possible or not.

One interesting feature regarding photography is that the phone comes with a photo editor app. It's rather lightweight and I doubt anyone could use it for professional touch ups, but for simple things like cropping or stylizing images it's very convenient.

The phone can also record video in full HD (1080p). Quality is excellent, like nothing I've ever seen from a phone before. This will eat through battery fairly quickly though, but I'd wager you would still get 4 - 5 hours of usage even if you were recording video the entire time, which you of course wont be doing.

As far as software goes, remember that this phone has a powerhouse dual-core 1.2GHz Exynos processor that can handle *anything* I throw at it. The phone is always very snappy. It flies through homescreens, menus, and applications. In Quadrant, the phone scores between 3,000 to 3,400+ and in Linpack it gets about 47 mflops.

All in all, this phone is excellent and I'm very happy with my purchase. It's a real upgrade over my old iPhone 3G. It supports blazing fast 4G downloads, has a stunning 4.3" screen powered by Super AMOLED Plus technology, and with two 1.2GHz processors, it can handle any workload that I throw at it.

For further convenience, the H17 headset periodically provides important voice prompts. An in-ear prompt will brief you on how to set up your Bluetooth connection, it will notify you when the mute function is activated, and it will also update you on remaining battery life.

Large Range, Fast Pairing, and Minimal Interference
The H17 uses a Class-2 Bluetooth protocol, providing a range of up to 33 feet. The headset also features Enhanced Data Rate technology, which allows for faster pairing with devices and helps decrease interference and static.

Otterbox Defender Case with Holster Belt Clip for HTC Evo 4G

I bought my Otter Defender case yesterday at a Sprint store and wanted to include my review here, as I read all 55 reviews before heading out to buy it. I LOVE IT! I am a female and do not feel it is as bulky and big as everyone else thinks it is. I think it is just perfect. I also feel the phone is just easier to hold with this awesome case. I would rather have my phone well-protected than buy a different case that doesn't really protect the camera lense, etc., especially when I just throw it in my purse. I also went one step further. I added a screen protector on top of the Otter case as another layer of protection, only because I had one screen protector left. This works great too! The touch screen and all buttons and controls work fine with the Otter case and the extra screen protector. I have not used the holster part yet. One tidbit I offer - if you don't like the holster provided with the Otter case, I recommend going to a Menards Home Improvement Store and going to the toolbelt section - they carry a couple of great heavy-duty velcro cell phone cases that you may like better (I already had one). The Otter case fits in this case too! Most people don't know cell phone cases are in this section, so go check it out.

Bottom line: I absolutely love my Otter Defender case and am very happy I bought it. I really wouldn't want anything else for my phone now that I have this. Indeed a great purchase!

BlackBerry BOLD 9780 Unlocked Cell Phone with Full QWERTY Keyboard, 5 MP Camera, Wi-Fi, 3G, Music/Video Playback, Bluetooth v2.1, and GPS

Finally I got my new device and I can tell that it was all that I was expecting. I bought it from Amazon.com store (not another seller) and when the box arrived the first thing that I checked was the model number and it is RCM72UW, which works with 3G bands 850/1900/2100, so this is AT&T, Rogers, Telus model...not T-Mobile model, so this is good news for me 'cause I use Movistar-Venezuela service. Well, to be honest I can not assure that Amazon.com will always be sending this particular model because they don't make any difference about the 3G compatibility and believe me 'cause I expend a lot of mails to customers service and they couldn't give me this detailed info. I took the risks and bought it anyway. Another info displayed on the box: Blackberry Bold 9780 Smartphone, 1256- Americas (Spanish) QWERTY-Black. Model RCM72UW, Made in Mexico. It comes with OS 6.0.0 Bundle 863. NOTE: Surprisingly it came with a 2GB microSD card already installed even when it wasn't published in the product details. Other info found checking in the options: active 3G bands 1, 2, 5 y 6. Searching in the internet I found that this means that it works with 3G bands 2100/1900/850/800. The box content is: 9780 device with plastic label protection on screen, battery cover, upper front (where it's printed "Blackberry"), camera lens and flash, leather pouch (the simple plane one, without belt clip, the leather looks like artificial type), earphones, battery, 5 feet USB cable (longer than the old one I had), standard wall charger with multiple international adapters (I was expecting ipod-like wall charger with female USB input, but it came with the usual one), Desktop software CD, user manual and some quick guides.

Otterbox Universal iPhone 4 Defender Case (Hot Pink Silicone & White Plastic)

If you're looking for the Super-Safe, Uber Protection for your iPhone, this case is it. It even has a built in screen protector that is smooth and flawless. I use it when boating, at the beach or by the pool. No, it is NOT waterproof... but definitely splash resistant. This case will protect your iPhone from drops, putting it in a purse, splashes and wet fingers/hands, etc. If you need extra protection this is the ideal case. It is sort of a puzzle to get on. So older hands may have a problem. Once on it stays there quite well... again, looks great too. Makes the phone larger, so if you'd like a larger phone in the hand feeling, this will help. Comes in many colors, visit the Otter Box web site then search Amazon for a specific color. Amazon has the best prices.

Motorola S305 Bluetooth Stereo Headset

The Motorola MOTOROKR™ S305 Stereo Headset delivers style, performance, and remarkable sound for your iPhone, iPod, or other stereo-capable Bluetooth® device. This lightweight headset lets you make hands-free calls and wirelessly listen to music so you'll stay tuned-in and hooked-up no matter where you're headed.

Speakers Deliver Robust Audio Performance
The S305 lets you wirelessly stream music from any compatible Bluetooth stereo-capable device, including the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S, and iPod touch 2G. The headphones generate rich, deep sound thanks to two high-quality 30mm speakers. With strong bass and dynamic audio, the headphones render all the highs and mids of your music with superb fidelity. You'll also enjoy remarkable call clarity without ambient background noise.

Music Pauses for Incoming Calls
Thanks to a small, high-grade microphone located beneath the right speaker, the S305 will pick up your voice in crisp detail. And if you should receive a call while your tunes are playing, the music will automatically pause. Just press the call button on the side of the headset to accept an incoming call.

Comfortable, Lightweight Design
With its stylish silver-and-black finish, the S305 headset has a sleek, futuristic look. Just as comfortable as it is attractive, the headset features a curved, behind-the-head wearing style and weighs less than comparable products. Also, the over-the-ear headphones are cushioned, making them soft enough for all-day listening.

Easy-to-Use Controls
The S305 has a control interface that allows you to adjust volume, accept calls, and switch music tracks with ease. A large call button on the side of the right speaker makes it simple to accept incoming calls and make outgoing calls. By tapping on either side of this button, you can also remotely change music tracks. Additionally, a conveniently placed volume button lets you adjust the volume of your music or phone call at any time.

Long-Lasting Charge and Universal Bluetooth Compatibility
The S305 provides up to 6.5 hours of uninterrupted talk or music. For added convenience, a micro-USB charging port is included on the side of the device.

The headset also features universal compatibility and can be used with any Bluetooth-enabled device--it's simple to set up and takes only seconds to sync. A special adapter (sold separately) may be required for use with MP3 players, iPhones, and PCs.
